IBM PC DOS 7.0 Upgrade

I am the not so proud owner of a fully registered IBM PC DOS 7.0 upgrade which I am trying to install on a 386 laptop for one of my elderly tennants.

Only five disks -- Disk 2 is toast, history done. I spent 45 minutes on hold with those #^%%^ at IBM today trying to get help for this issue and received none.

I have spent two nights trying to fix this disk which is in the XDF format. No Luck.

A friend recommend I try you guys, so here I am.

I want to emphasize that I don't want the whole upgrade set. I want and need disk two -- that's it. I also don't want MSDOS.

If anyone can help me it would be appreciated.

Try it

Download Hd-copy diskette duplicator (not remember, but is a Ms-DOS aplication for duplication diskettes) and set the read sector error in 99 past. Try read the disk, in the best case, you copy your second disk to another new. The hd-copy read extended format (1.66 mb, etc).

Have you tried running ScanDisk (or similar utility) on that Disk 2? You might try taking it to a WinDoze machine and let ScanDisk try to fix it. I've seen it solve lots of problems with floppies.

The disk being referred to is in XDF format, meaning that IBM managed to squeeze a bit more data then 1.44MB onto it. Therefore, to my knowledge scandisk and other such utils won't read it. IBM put a DOS based TSR on the first install disk that allowed the others to be read. Of course I may be wrong feel free to tell me so if I am.
I may still have my PC DOS 7.0, I'll look and let you know. If so I certainly don't plan on using it anytime soon.

if you have no luck with the one your looking for.
