Question:
What is the exact syntax to extract a cab file from the 98CD.
I know I can use the file checker utility in Win98, I but I'd rather use DOS Prompt.
I get an error message on boot that says I don't have Highmem.sys loaded, and I want to extract it from the cab files. I'm using the A and Y switches but am unable to extract???

Though you can do Extract /?
You use it like this
Extract File.cab filenametoextract.ext

Extract /a X:\win98\win98_22.cab filename /l location
X is the cdrom or location of cabs. Filename is file to be extracted and location is where you want it.
the /a scans all the .cabs but if you know what .cab it is in you can drop it and put in the proper .cab.

One other question:
I see that you targeted the Win98_22.cab file first...
Is that the first cab file, and how many should there be on the CD?
Also are there minicabs and if so what is the syntax for the mini cabs.
:) :) Thanks.

I have never had to extract anything from the minicabs. I think but am not sure those get used during setup. All of your core files are in the regular .cab files.

And in Win98 it is the first one...I forget what it is in win95 or WinMe except that me does not have as many.
