I have a new computer with a j-bond PCI 600E mother board and in 98-se when you goto shutdown it just reboots the computer and doesnt power down.
I think this may be a bios problem.
but I cant find a bios update for @ www.jbond.com (http://www.jbond.com)
or could this be a 98-se problem
any help will bring many thanks.

In Win98 SE, the "disable fast shutdown" is checked by default when you open MSCONFIG and click the advanced button. I did not like that, and it never was a problem before in the standard win98 so I unchecked it and rebooted. Well I thought nothing of it until later on when I decided to shut down. The same symptoms as sjarbutt described, the computer would not shut down. It would restart instead. Of course I checked the box again, and all is well now. Looks like fast shutdown is disabled for a reason in win98 SE lol
