My original Sound Blaster 16 card which sets up & works fine without intervention under Win95, does not work under Win NT 4.0 SRV SP2. Although it is detected without conflicts I cant get any sound.

Sound Blaster is the only sound card I can ever get to work with NT 4.0 (without hitch). I believe you might have I/O or IRQ conflict. Verify that your sound card is setup DMA 01, IRQ 5, I/O 220. I also would suggest Service Pack 3 be installed, beware of Service Pack 4, co-techie having problems with it.

SB16 is the only sound card that I have never had an issue installing under NT. I strongly urge you to install SP3 - SP2 seems to cause more problems than it fixes.

you didn't mention do you have a network adapter? the only time I had problems installing SB16 was when they both wanted to use irq10. Did you install the pnpisa.inf from NT so it could auto-detect the card?
So far I have installed SP4 on about 35 pcs with no problems at all.

We all know the horrible effects of spk2 for NT4.0. If you install spk3, then install your
sound card, remember every time you update or
change your system configuration you MUST!!! re-apply the service pak.
