Win Nt 4.0 cant find the lpt1 port for my printer. How do i check to make sure that its found the port and if not how I check and how do I install it . I have already got in to dos to test the lpt port and it say that it can't find the file path.

You get to knock out 2 birds with 1 stone. Like the last reply I posted, the first thing to check is CMOS configuration. Make sure your LPT1 port is enabled in the CMOS. The resources should be IRQ 7 - I/O 378. When you get back to NT, use the printer install wizard to setup the printer. During the process you will be able to select your port or ports, whether you want to share the printer, etc. . . If this dosen't work, you may need updated drivers, or you may need to install service pack 3 or 4. I would suggest not doing anything without, at least, service pack 3.
