I have a big problem with a very important file some engineers need desperately, it is a word97 doc, with a lot of charts, tables, and graphics inserted, which they need to be able to work with often. For some reason it gives DR Watson errors every time you get about half way thru it (on NT) ..If you pull the same file up on a win95\off97 prof pc, you can see it fine, win98 hangs ..can't read it. If I resave the doc in win95\off97 I can see it once when I go back to NT then it dies again, back to Dr Watson errors. Same exact office install, and tried it on more than one NT machine, same problem. Since we run NT here with only a few laptops and desktops running win95, I can not just tell them to use that, they need to see and work with it in NT.. HELP anybody know anything about this? I also tried on win98\off97, locks it up....but win95\off97 works beautiful.
PS-I also tried installing various viewers ( because I think it dies on some graphics, but not always the same ones) and reinstalling off97 with everything possible and sr2a installed, and I tried various save versions. I also increased the page file, NG.

Hi,

Ive seen this problem with a particularly large document in our office most things are still 95 so its not such a problem if two computers cannot read it. After trying numerous tricks including playing with the pagefile adjusting the priority of word up with taskmanager i was going to give up. My last attempt to solve the problem worked but cannot explain why if it works and you figure it out let me know.

We have one person in the office running an older version of word. When I saved the document in Word 6 format not only did it work on his machine but on the two NT stations also.

Good Luck and let me know if this is helpful

Thanx I tried it, still works one time then quits in NT. We finally contacted the people it came from and turns out they use a combination of like 3 diff photo softwares (Canvas, photoshop and something else), and that it is all done originally on a mac, then brought into word. All I can think is that win95\off97 must have supported some graphics that arent now supported by NT or 98. What a pain, wasted all day.....=) thanx for the response
