I need some help with NT I have not been working with it long. I need to convert ipx/spx to tcp/ip. Also I need to understand what a static ip is. Thanks to all that apply. Joe

You can't convert ipx/spx to tcp/ip. These are network protocols that communicate with the receiving computer's protocols. You can either add in the protocols or you can remove them the network neighbourhood properties. Right click network neighbourhood, select the protocols tab. The rest is pretty straight forward.

IPX and TCP/IP are protocols or the way the computers communicate.

A static IP address is an IP address tied to a particular computer. Like the address on your house. As opposed to Dynamic IP addressing which is when the computer is assigned an address each time it starts up and dosn't always have the same address. This requires a DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) server to assign IPs as required. Some devices require static IP addresses.
