UUUHHHMMMMMMM??????????
You did read that link correctly, right????
Something tells me you didn't.
This is what the 1st sentence said.......

Sony strongly recommends against installing Windows 2000 on the PCV-210/230.

This means no, it isn't a go.
However, if you want to try, go ahead.
You will experience difficulties though and Sony isn't going to offer you any support on those problems.
Hope this clarifies the situation.

He is running Windows ME, not 2000.

The machine meets the recommended specs for ME, but you may run into problems locating drivers for ME. I would suggest doing a little research in advanced and trying to locate the right drivers for all of your devices. Then go ahead and install ME and see what happens.

The machine is a bit short for Windows 2000. If you upgrade to 256 MB RAM you might get 2000 to run but once you open 2 or 3 apps you will see a big decline in performance.

Yes it probably is running ME but the title of the thread states 'Upgrading to Win2K' so the user wants to know if it is possible to upgrade this system to run 2k. The problem normally with the Notebooks & Win2K is the BIOS. If there is an up to date BIOS available that is classified OK for Win2K , upgrade to that & you should have no problems.

He should have been more specific!!!
As far as I understood in plain text, he said upgrading to win2k!!! NOT WINME!!!
So I found a link at Sony's webpage to answer his question and double checked to make sure he understood what it said.

How do you know he's running winme?????
He is planning on upgrading from his existing os (win9x????) to Win2k.
