I found out some thing interesting on DVD region locking. It used to be implemented by software, after the 5th DVD was played the software would lock to that region and you had to reload the software or get a hach for the code to make it region free. But now the insidious copyright people in the movie industry have made it a hardware issue. All fourth generation DVD players (usually 10X or higher) have the region locking embedded in the firmware and usually this will not reset if you upgrade the firmware. You must send the player back to the factory. I found a really good site that covers such DVD issues. http://www.digital-digest.com

So if you travel overseas bring your own DVDs you will not be able to play theirs on your laptop.
