Please help!
I have a Pentium II 300 MHz with an Intel AL440LX Motherboard running PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0 (BIOS version 4A4LL0X0.86A.0024.P09)
I purchased the Microsoft Digital Sound System 80 about 2 years ago, and ever since I installed it, the computer hangs at boot due to the USB connection from this device. To get around it, I unplug the USB every time I reboot. After checking the Microsoft website, I found that this is a known issue, and that the only fix is to "update the BIOS". Can anyone get me started on this? Thanks!

Just out of curiosity, have you tried plugging the speaker system into an external USB hub with its own power supply? This solved the same problem for me a couple years back with the ASUS MB I was running at the time. The problem turned out to be a USB Hub on the MB that wasn't delivering the correct power to the USB devices. The external power source for the Hub meant my USB devices weren't dependent on the MB USB for their power supply.
