i work help desk for PURE HARDWARE SUPPORT on computers, sometimes people dont want to believe that. we have to keep a call time of under 15min. . i had a customer who wanted to speak to a supervisor and my supervisor wasnt available the guy didnt want to hang up the phone till the supervisor was there, no matter what i told him and even if the supervisor would have spoke to him he wouldnt have done nothing .(the guy wanted a new system) the only people that control that is consumer relations, but this guy still doesnt want to understand and didnt want to hang up. till finally i got the ok to terminate the call. (call lasted 1 hour)
i had this lady say "F*CK YOU" then hung up.
i had this other person call me an a$$H*le under her breath , even though i still heard it. i got alot of people start yelling at me and cussing at me. i usually laugh about it and let other techs listen in on it. i remember i had this guy start fuming because he didnt know how to adjust his monitor setting on the monitor itself and i couldnt help him with that because it wasnt a hardware failer, boy did he fume.
does anyone else have stories of really irrate customers?

I sympathize with you.
Online Phone support techs take alot of verbal abuse from the I don't know Jack Squat about computers consumer. The computer humor link at this website has a funny collection of phone messages and phone support. check IT OUT.

This whole line of work attracts the irate customers like no other. Must because they won't take the time to read a manual or online documentation & expect others to do all the work for them. The best thing is that the wouldn't do it to a Mechanic or Doctor, would they???

I had a customer that brought the computer she just bought an hour earlier back saying it wouldn't work (I had checked out before she left myself). When I went to go set it up again to test it, the pins on the monitor cable were so bent there was no way it was going to fit into the receviever right. When I told her what was wrong she said something along the lines of "It did seem hard to push in" then wanted us to give her a new monitor.

Had this customer come in the other day. Bought a computer from us 3 years ago. Slams it down on the counter and proceeds to scream at me " This thing is a piece of Sh t"
So I calmy ask him to elaborate. He goes on to say that it turns off by itself and locks up and freezes all the time.
He wants his money back.
I explain that I'll be glad to look at it NOW!! for him and see what may be wrong with it. He says NO!!! he wants his money back NOW!!

I have other customers in the store and this guy is screaming at me.

Anyway, I hook it up on one of our display tables out front and notice that he has so many programs installed that when you go to start/ programs you can't see them all even with the display set to 1024x 768. He has the same numbers of icons on his desktop. I mean. the entire screen is full and then some. It impossible to see all the programs and icons.

And on top of that there is Playdoh stuffed in the power supply fan shroud, so that it's overheating.

I point these things out to him. and He still screaming at me that he wants his money back.

I tell him sorry that's not going to happen under any circumstance. He starts to really get mad at this point and get in my face about how he going to kick mt butt...

After the cops took him away.

His wife calls screaming on the phone why did we put her husband in jail.

I told her what went on. She was not any better than him.

It ends with computer being fixed and paid for by their neighbor who the wife had been letting their kids come over and use the computer and never told her husband about it. He never used the computer at all. She just lied to him about the whole thing and blamed us for the computer problems they were having.

He called last week for technical support and asked for me.... I wasn't in but called him back and gave him help. He acted like it never happened and we were best friends.

I won't be helping him or her ever again.

I wonder how that idea came up... "I've got a new idea for overclocking, it'll be great! I'll jam up all the cooling devices, then it'll get so hot eventually that it will be 'blazing' fast."

Or maybe... "I think I'll put a silencer on that noisy fan back there, that should only help things"

I Love people!

When an irrate customer calls and tries to push me around in to "getting someone higher up the food chain" or "Someone that can make something happen" I will usually transfer them to the lunch room's kitchen.
