I get into work one day, I turn on my PC and load all the help desk applications i need. I walk out of my office to get some coke I come back and a lady one of the employees is standing in my office with a confused look on her face. I asked her what she wanted, and she says that she couldnt turn on here computer. Well the day before I was at here desk updating windows nt to windows 2000 pro, so I was thing "I must have ****ed up the workstation", well I walk over and checked here power strip and it was on the little green light was glowing, well I then checked the monitor, well it works well it was on it had power, then I checked the computer its self, and there was no power to it, so I pushed the power button and the computer turned on. The lady runs up and yells HOW DID YOU DO THAT?? I said just turned it on.
Its amazing that people cannot turn on a computer. I thought when you here jokes about people not able to turn on a computer was just a fake, well guess not. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

1> Sit in from of the computer
2> have a cup of tea and relax - it will not attack you
3> Push the small power botton
>>Again
>>the Power - Not reset

A female workmate could never figure out how to turn her computer on cos the 'symbols were confusing'. I told her |= hard-on and O= have it off. She laughed a lot and never forgot. If you can make any reference to sex they always remember.

I once over heard a brilliant support call from my fellow tech.
Tech:- Good morning, how can I help?
(Caller explains the problem)
Tech:- Ah, yes. this is a common problem with these cases. What I want you to do is, are you sitting in front of it now?, Ok, hit the front of the computer just above the Power button.
(Caller ???)
Tech:- yes thats right, its Ok, I'm a professional........Hmmm, try again. A bit harder this time. Ok, is the PC powering on now. Ok, thank you, goodbye.
Turns out the reset button was stuck, therefore the machine just keeps rebooting when switched on.
Laugh, I nearly wet myself...

Does anyone remember Turbo Switches?
I used to disable them on every unit I worked on - it stopped all those calls saying "My computer is running slow!"
