I'll post this in the right forum now (DOH)

We had a cus last week who bought parts to build his pc,couple of days later he phoned up saying the system was realy unstable during instalation of Linux and also windows 98.
After talking him for about 20 mins i told him the best thing to do was bring the sys down to us.
The next day he brings the system down we check the sys over it all looks ok but when we try and install win98 the sys hangs and crashes so for a start we swap out the v/c card and bingo the sys starts to work.
So as the system is running BCM i just happen to look at the voltage setting he's set for the cpu and get the shock of my life he's manuly set the voltage to 3.3 volts and not 2.2
After i shut the sys down i tryed to take the cpu HSF evan though the sys had been running for about 10 mins the HSF and CPU were white hot and i ended up burning my fingers.
As you may have guessed the CPU was well and truly toasted and had to be replaced.
The cust excuse for setting the volt wrong was the manulal for the spacewalker hot 591p was not clear enough evan though it has large diagrams showing what jumpers go were for each voltage.

I tried to run an AMD K6/II-350 @ 504 once....once. Some live and learn, some just live.
