Was this wrong of me? I've been getting pissed off at customers all day anyhow and I am supposed to take care of all technical inquiries and not this stuff. These people need to quit emailing me.
"Hi Guys,
Confirmation *******, It would have been nice to know exactly what the amount is that I am being billed on my debit card. Quicken is very upset because it doesnt know. Can you help me out on this?
******"
I wrote her back and let her know that I was sending Photoshop and Flash out right away to cheer him up... she hasn't responded as of yet :D

If I tried to respond to every email that I get, there wouldn't be enough hours in the day to do it. Just ignore them - if they sent their email to somebody who doesn't give a care, that's not your problem.

Well, it is my problem as I try to keep a 100% answered ratio. Keeps the customers happy. I usually answer about 600 emails a week and about 400 live chats a week.

A more professional response would be either:
a) please contact our billing department for any billing inquiries (or just forward their message to billing)
b) tell them that you don't know, and give a date at which time you will respond by

Well, if I were looking for a serious response, this wouldn't have been put in Tech Tales but thanks for the tip.

You could always instruct her on how to wait by her mailbox for her mail to arrive with the bank statement, complete with hyperlinks to the post office web site, camping supplies links for that extended waiting period, etc.

Hey craigmodius! You still using that signature?
Back to the subject... Did you get caught? No? Then don't worry 'til you do :D
That said I work for a guy who inadvertantly insults customers on a regular basis, so it doesn't matter that much when I do every now and then.
