ok folks i've got a question and yes i'll probably be flamed but what the heck i've been flamed before and am still breathing
what's the best uh-oh you've ever committed in front of a customer?
mine while tweaking a system for a friend of my sister was asked how to tell where someone had been on the net (she has a 13 year old son) so i show her all the little places to look what do we find but links too alot of naked guys and gay sites thing is when i checked the logon times she was at work and the son was at school leaving the husband at home at those times and yes both her and my sis were sitting there when this came to light needless to say i beat a very hasty retreat and wrote that hour off as a iou from my sister anyone else have anything similar happen?

Yes, almost the same thing. I was showing my neighbor and his wife about cookies and such, and low and behold PORN sites! Of course my neighbor claimed it was his adult son (who doesn't live there anymore) who must have been doing that. OK, whatever you say! See ya. http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smilies/cwm30.gif

Probably the time I walked in on a couple of executives from one of our biggest customers "having relations" in an office after hours. It still gives me chills to this day. *shudder* And yes, it was male-female, thank god.

Wow you peeps are either lucky or very unlucky depending on how you look at it. I found over a gig of child porn someone's system when I was working for a servoice provider. The company took the system and called the police. Our company and the "pervert" were on TV... No mention of me thank god... http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smile.gif

I was talking to a good freind of mine about how the internet isn't bad and I am sure his kids are using it for homwork and whatnot. then he brings his system to me with a virus on it and He asks where his kids got it from.
So I show him howto go into history and temp forlder and all the rest of it. turns out his kids were goin crazy on the porn.
and I was the one that advised him to get it for them. He just kinda looked at me and smiled and said, at least we know they aren't gay!!

We've had a few computers in here that people found out their kids or spouse was looking at porn (and not just husbands, found a few wives looking).
The worst thing I think I did was go to a service call and forgot all my tools in the shop. Felt like a complete idiot, but thankfully a friends car audio shop was around the corner and got the tools I needed from him.

My grandfather asked for help finding some web pages, and I sat down at his computer with him looking over my shoulder and was about to show him how to use WebFerret.
(Now, for those of you who've never used it, WebFerret is a search engine program that lets you type in a single query, then automatically structures the query for each search engine, gathers the results from several dozen engines and organizes them in a single window with no annoying ads or popup banners. One of it's features is that it keeps track of the last 5 or 6 searches that you've done.)
I knew he'd been using the program before, and I knew he didn't understand the first thing about Boolians or more complex queries. So I hit the recall button to see what his last few searches were. Lo and behold, his last several searches had been for 'porn', 'free porn', etc. http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smilies/cwm24.gif
I hit the button to clear it off the screen, and fortunately, my grandfather's attention had been distracted elsewhere. I didn't let on that I'd seen anything, as I didn't want him to feel embarassed. No one else uses his computer, so he was the only person who could have done it.

I don't have to worry about any of that working for the one company, and all the staff delete their history, temp files and temp internet so I can't see where they have been.
Bit of a bummer that, would be nice to know what and where they have been.

I was at a house working on a customer's pc, and they had links everywhere right on the dekstop to porn sites, along with all a couple of those direct dialers downloaded right to the desktop, she said her nephew who had been in town a couple of weeks ago had done it....she was having massive problems, so I hosed the drive and installed windows from scratch....she called me back 2 days later for a modem issue, and guess what was all over her desktop again???....I said, "I see your nephew came to visit already, huh?"
She turned beet red!!!!!!!!!

Once I was returning a computer to a monastery and a nun asked how to find a certain shareware download a freind told her about,so I get on the net and thought I typed in www.hotfiles.com (http://www.hotfiles.com) but instead i typed www.hotfile.com, (http://www.hotfile.com,) a very raunchy porn site. It popped up about 7 ad windows before I get it off the screen. I was very red but she thought it was hysterical.very embarassing.
