My favorites are: People who call upset because Netscape is not working and they can't get their e-mail. Only to discover that they didn't realize they had to be connected to the internet as well. These are the "came from AOL" people who think Netscape is the Internet.
Second is people that forget to take the tape off the ink jet cartridges and can't figure out why the printer is spitting out blank pages.
Finally, people that call because their computer is locked up, not working correctly or otherwise having problems. The first thing I ask everytime is did you restart the computer? The answer is usually; "No I didn't, should I? OK if you insist but I don't see how that will help. . . . . "

Or how about this one:

The customer tells you that while playing solitaire the mouse just quits working. As you are trying to figure out what the problem is with the driver or the serial port, you finally get it out of him that its not just the mouse, but the whole system locks up. Aahh...the "cheap video card that flaked out" syndrome. Replace the video card and... tada! Now the mouse works for endless hours of solitaire (solitary?) fun. ;-)

Or once I had this one user who complained of light and streaky ink being printed. The first thing I asked her... "Is there any ink in the cartridge?" "Oh yes... definatly" she replied. I go there, and the cartridge is near bone dry! I asked her again if she checked the print cartridge for ink. She said yes again. It seems that one of those 3rd party win95 spoolers that display ink levels was how she checked to see the ink levels and when I looked at the spool display she excliamed "See there is still some ink left!" There was not even a sliver left on the ink status bar!!!! What a cheapster!!
