What is the deal today, I have had people forcing PS2 connectors and bending the hell out of the prongs. Good news is, Keyboard sales are up.

Yeah, I know what you mean...I tried to help someone one time reconnecting their home compter and they couldn't get the keyboard to go in right, after about 10 minutes they asked for help....and imagine my surprise when the pins were bent all to hell.... :eek:

My little brother did that to my monitor. I nearly killed him. Until he broght me needle nose pliers to fix it.

See, the problem is that the connector is a cirle, so people think they can shove them in any which way. They really need to make huge markers on the connectors so people know which way is up.

Having bent pins is better than broken pins in the MB KB connector. My favorite is when the little black plastic "key" breaks off in the plug. Always fun.

Had a client do that once. I spent over an hours with a needle, lighter and a pocket knife trying to remove the piece. So finaly I fix it and charge the client for 1.5 hours of work. She gets upset because I did not do any computer "stuff." She tells me her son could have done what I did. I spent half an hour explaining to her that it was her son who broke it. She wanted to give me twenty dollars for my trouble!
That was the last time I worked with her. She still calls but for some strange reason, I am always busy during the times she wants me to come over.

I once took my computer to a freinds house. I notice the color was a little off. So I was checking all the connections and such..made sure the card was on tight... after a while I said forget it. when I dissconnected the monitor one of the pins was bent flush. So it pluged in just fine. I didn't think I forced it though... I wonder how long it was like that.

I just wish that the pins to bios chips and the pins on processers were stronger.

speaking of the monitor plugs, why dont they just not hardwire the cord into the monitor..that way you could change the cord....commies
(ps, yes i know on some monitors they have the connection like that...but very few)

I had one crazy lady who on her third time once again brought her computer to me. This time she complained her keyboard and mouse wouldn't plug in after being serviced. She never gave us her keyboard and mouse the other two times. Anyways, she had very forcefully mashed her keyboard and mouse connectors. I almost laughed at the amount of damage that was done to the ports. It's not a hard concept that these connectors only fit a certain way. I wonder if she was one of those children who tried to force the square peg through the round hole?

I had one crazy lady who on her third time once again brought her computer to me. This time she complained her keyboard and mouse wouldn't plug in after being serviced. She never gave us her keyboard and mouse the other two times. Anyways, she had very forcefully mashed her keyboard and mouse connectors. ahh, but are the (l)users turning off the pc's before they ram the connectors in??? Apparently mine think PS/2's are Hot swappable like USB.

Actually some motherboards do have hot swapable PS2. Onetime I was behind my computer while it was on(i think i was messing with the speaker connector) when I knocked out the mouse. So I picked it up plugged it back in and it still worked fine! I love my motherboard.

hehe. When I'm building multiple systems for a client I get one running and then start the burn-in, unplug the keyboard, mouse and monitor and get busy on the next. I then move them back from time to time to view the logs...never bothering to shut down any of the systems.... :D
