Went on a service call to a company with about 70 pc's on their networks, Customer states they get an error message everytime they try to run a program. Arrived there looked at the closest workstation at the door and found no activity on the NIC. Took a look at the hubs...no activity. Looked at the routers..no activity. Nothing was moving on the network. Went to a workstation and found that I couldn't even ping the the workstation right next to it. About this time the owner of the company shows up and started reamming me a new ***. After a long speach, he blurts out that it all started when I was last there (about 6 months ago) Secrectary shows up and complains she heard aliens in the phone. go over to her workstation only to find that the owner of the company moved her desk to the other side of the room and just put wires where he thought they should go. Well the dumbass hooked the patch cable from the NIC to a fancey multi-line phone, in result cooking 2 routers, 6 hubs, a fiber hub backbone,one NetServer and all but one NIC. To clinch the whole story the company tried to sue me for not standing behind the hardware. There is noway I could swallow the cost of $32,000 to replace what a moron screwed up.
