Hi,

Thanks for all your help with my other post about HDDs.

This time I could do with some help with an Intel NetportExpress XL print server.

I recently got this on ebay but didn't realise it didn't have a power supply unit. The print server has been discontinued by intel and I have not been able to find a replacement on the web.

I decided to have a go at powering it from a normal computer PSU as it seems to take inputs at 5v and 12v DC.

The power input is a bit like a PS2 port although it only has five pins.

So far I have cut the lead off an old mouse, pulled of the extra pin, and wired that up.

However it only has four wires through it so this may be a problem?

Anyway I have got the thing to power up by following the pin output from a PSU I found on the web

<a href="http://www.smxpower.com/GPC14_data_sheet.pdf" target="_blank">http://www.smxpower.com/GPC14_data_sheet.pdf</a>

this seems to be ok although the device doesn't seem to connect to the network.

However having investigated a little further, I took the device out of its case and looks on the underside. It appears that the inputs have been labeled with:

one having 12v,
two having 5v,
two having ground 0v.

This is acutally different from what I was trying and when I wired it up this way the unit seemed to partially power on but the LEDs only went red instead of Green which is how they went at first.

Still any help would be great.
If you own one of these and know the wiring or if you know where I can get a PSU that would be brilliant.

Thanks
Nathan

7 oclock +5 v
9 oclock RTN
10 oclock +5 v

ITE Power Supply p/n 665584-002

I have asked intel and they say they don't have any as the product is discontinued.

Also Archer:

How many pins are on the left and right?

I have three down the right and 2 on the left so looking from the top

i have 2oc
3oc
5oc
9oc
10oc

Actually I have just looked at it again.
I was looking at the input so mine would obviously be backwards!!

Hi once again

I think that I may have broken it!!!!

What ever I have done I now only get a solid red light on the LEDs and no green ones.

I have tried the original config which i used when I got green lights and also the one given in the post.
