I manage a network at our small police department. They run a networked program that they enter reports on. It requires the workstation to have a mapped drive to the program's directory on the server with read & write capabilities.

Every time the computer boots up, Microsoft Windows ME opens a window showing the contents of of this mapped drive. I trust the officers, but not every one is smart enough to close this and leave it alone.

Is there a way to Map a network drive in Microsoft Windows ME and it NOT display the contents of this drive?

You might want to use TweakUI from Microsoft to hide the drive. That way, you know it's there & can access it by using TweakUI to unhide the mapped drive, but nobody else will see it from My Computer or Explorer (the downside here is that anyone savvy enough to open winfile.exe will be able to see the contents of the drive)

Try it & see if it works for you
