Will not shut down

I just installed an ASUS P5S-B, AMD 500Mhz, 64MB, blah, blah. Loaded 98SE, loaded the remaining drivers. When I shut down, the system auto restarts rather than shutting down. It is like I chose restart rather than shut down.

Any suggestions??????

seriously, try the shutdown patch. try it with a fresh install even (no drivers loaded). maybe even a new powersupply.

That's true - it is a common one.
Apart from installing the shutdown supplement, check your power management settings in the BIOS. Make sure power management is enabled, but Wake on LAN/Ring is disabled.

Thanks for the tips CyberTech and Damned Angel. DOS Tech - If the answer was obvious, I would have found it.

I have found a fix however. For the record:

The ASUS P5S-B has a problem. You must disable the onboard sound, install the OS, load all the other drivers, THEN enable the sound and load those drivers. Everything should be fine a that point.

DOS Tech - Please ignore this advice in that you apparently, already have ALL the answers.
