In tech tips, there is a posting for how to get into, and actually reset, password protected Award BIOS. Is there such a crack for other BIOS, and if so, could it be posted. Always seems to come up when the user doesn't know the password, doesn't have the book, and hate to charge time to look at the board for clues, which sometimes aren't there.
Thanks,
Terry

kill cmos only works if user password has not been enabled (cant boot past post if it is). Usually removing the battery will do. if it has a dallas clock chip. power off machine, take out clock chip, put it in backwards, boot for 2 seconds and then turn it off and put it back in.

Most mother boards have a jumper to reset the cmos on them. Which will remove any information including the password.

The jumper is the way to go. Just remember to put the jumper back in it's normal position after clearing the NVRAM, the check the BIOS for proper settings as they will be returned to defaults.

unfortunately kill cmos don't help if they have the password enabled for both bios and boot, the good old remove battery or use clear cmos jumper works, if it is a soldered in battery, I found taking a paper clip or wire and shorting the + and - on the battery for a couple of seconds also kills the cmos....good luck!

The best way to kill cmos password is to remove the system board battery for 10 seconds and reinstall. This will clear all just like jumper but without having to locate jumper.
