In case there is some other poor slob out there that is having problems with popping noises while playing audio cds or midi files on a computer with the DFI AK74-EC. Stop looking for the problem. http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smilies/cwm35.gif
I had a client using this board with a 1gig T-bird that complained of this problem. I searched for a couple of days with no joy. I then called my suppliers tech support division, who in turn, called his supplier, and so on. Eventually we made direct contact with the manufacturer who confirmed that this board has a flaw with the onboard sound that is "hit or miss". Some boards have it, some do not.
Apparently, it is on only the T-bird boards and only when running the 1gig processor. It is still up in the air as to whether or not they will be recalling this motherboard. Hope this helps a few of you out! http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smilies/cwm7.gif
