My regular CD-ROM doesn't read most 700MB CD-R's. It doesn't have as much trouble with the 650's. I know it's because it's an old drive that was made before CD-R's was the big thing, so it doesn't support it very well. This I can live with.
My question is this--> My CD-RW drive has troubles reading most 700MB CD-R's too. (One's that have already been burned.) It's a 4x4x24 IDE drive. Is this problem derived from the fact that it's fairly old too? It was purchased when 4X's were the top of the line. I seem to remember that 700MB disks are fairly new...
It's not a big issue, just an annoyance. Kind of odd that it will read SOME 700MB disks perfectly, while others it has difficulties with. Oh...and it will eventually read some 700's that it initially has problems with.
Any answers are appreciated. I assume it's the age of the hardware, but it can't hurt to ask.
