Hi!
I have a Samsung SCR 3232 CD-ROM drive with max speed 32X.
My drive gives me a lot of problems. It just doesn't read any CDs. The D drive icon always shows in my computer, but the icon does not change when I put in a new CD, nor is the CD accessible.
The drive connections seem to be allright, and it receives power. When I put in a CD, the light blinks, but the drive does not read.
I've noticed that although the drive 'lights up', the CD inside does not rotate. This I've noticed by keeping the title on the CD facing me, and the position does not change after I shut the drive for a few secs. and then open it.
The drive does work occasionally, especially after any sort of physical movement... like when I take my PC off the desk for cleaning.
During these 'window' periods when the drive works for a few days, I've even run a lens cleaner, so a dirty lens is mostly not the problem.
I think that that there is no problem with the spindle motor as it seems to work.
Please help me with my problem, I'm stumped!
