I've wrestled with this one too long and finally give up. I have a Tyan Tsunami 1830 MB with a Sony Spressa CDR on the Primary HDD and a ASUS 50x CD on the Secondary and a Promise Ultra33 secondary controller with 2 Quantum UDMA33 HDD's on Primary and a Syquest SPARQ on the Secondary. All seems fine during normal PC operation. My problem is that even though I can install games on my system from the ASUS, I can't play the games that were just installed from that same drive. I receive an error stating that I must insert the CD in the drive, even though there it sits. Any takers?

What is the cd-rom drive letter that you are installing your game? Some games look for the first atapi device and will look no further.

I had similar problems. The best way is to assign the CD-ROm drive as Drive e: from the Control Panel/System/Device Manager.

Set it to D: is the best way around this, most games are setup to use that particular device..and reinstall once the device is set to D: and rebooted...good luck
