This might be a stupid question, but when I try to backup one of my game CD's using a 12-8-32 speed Samsung Burner and it doesn't copy, it tells me that it can no longer read the CD... Any help? Thanks

depending on the game, some manufacturers are making it impossible to copy the cd's now in order to prevent piracy.

Ok, Thanks... But trying to copy the CD once makes the entire cd unusable even though i can't copy the cd?

Try http://gamecopyworld.com. This site is for backing up your cd's only!

which cd are you refering to?

if its your blank, cdr, they're once only!

when burning, you should do a "test then burn"; if there's a prob the test will highlight it and hence not waste cdr's. ;)

IMHO

do you have a problem with the burner/cd-drive itself? check it with copying a standard non-protected-cd...
also use the burner as cd-reader - sometimes they can read more cd-formats

stupid question: have you perhaps tried to copy a non-finalized CD and instead of copying the CD you have written something onto? What does your writer-sw says about the contents of the CD?

I don't have a problem with the burner itself but if it's only a 1 time deal with CD-R's i don't want to waste my money. I only want to use the CD-R's for data not music. Thanks for the help!

Here's one for ya..has me scratching my head..figure it's best ot put in here, I re-did my system with Win2000 resently, now I have an HP burner in the machine that was running great for the past few years, worked awsome in Win95 went to 2000, won't burn a CD to save the life of me
Went back and gave my system a dual boot with Win95 on the side, now the Cd burner burns normal CDR's but when it comes to the CDRW it burns the disk closes it and says that it burned just fine, check out the CD in Explorer, says the CD is freakin' blank !! what do you guys think defective CDRW drive? checked with different media, still the same problem..

I had a similar issue with my HP drive although I am using win98se. I found that most of time the cdrw wouldn't function correctly unless I accessed the disk using Direct CD and not just windows explorer.

I noticed that myself...
After actually going as far as redoing my 2 OS's and still not having any luck..I figure I'd give up...and just upgrade my burner..even if it's just the mechanism inside that only writes CDRW thats damaged, well thats at least acceptable..it can still burn normal CDs..either way I do need DAO on CDRW..most of my burner programs say that this drive don't have it..oh, well
She be a going to my LinuX machine now..
ThanXX for the help though..
