On my manual of the DVD 10X 40X read, it says it can read many types of cd's especially CD-RW's. But when i tried to tried nothing much showed up on the cd, and the label on the CD drive is labeled "Cd." What is the problem? Oh yea one thing, im using the microsoft drivers for the DVD-ROM,but not the ones provided with the DVD-rom because the microsoft drivers are recent. What should I do to resolve this problem? And if there's a IRC channel that discusses about computer problems, please do tell me!!!Thanks!!!

To be able to read a CD-RW disk (made with Adaptec's DirectCD) on any system, you have to install UDF drivers from Adaptec on the system. The CD's are written in UDF format and are unreadable on most older CD-ROM drives and can only be read on newer ones as long as the correct drivers are installed on your system. You can find these drivers on the installation disk that comes with any CD-RW drive, or you can download them here:

ftp://ftp.adaptec.com/pub/BBS/easycd/udfrinst_v102.exe

Also may I suggest that you download the highly dodgy firmware upgrade available on the web that makes the Pioneer a regionless DVD..I would post the URL but the trouble it could cause me is more than is worth it. Do a search on any good hardware site.
