I am still in the dark ages of video cards, currently using a 16MB AGP Elsa Victory 2. I bought this board pretty cheap a while ago to replace my old 4MB AGP generic card. Supposedly this card is advertised as featuring "Interactive Vodoo Banshee 16 MB SGRAM AGP".... Whatever.
Anyways I have just purchased Savage4 32MB AGP card and was wondering if I will notice much of a performance increase in my gaming. The Savage4 specs were advertised as follows:
Interface: AGP 64-bit
S3 Savage4 Chipset
32 MB 125MHz DRAM
270MHz RAMDAC
Texture compression S3 DirectX 6. X (S3TC)
128-bit Graphic Pipeline
1920 x 1200 @ 75 Hz
32-bit true color - rendering

I realize I could have posted this in the Video forum, but I thought it might get a little better response here as you techs browse the various topics. I've never been a "video tweaker" and know very little about the different brands and makes. My knowledge goes something like this:
1) AGP is better than PCI.
2) PCI is better than ISA.
3) More memory is better than less memory.
4) Avoid on-board video.

Thanks for all your help in advance! :) :)

Yes you will definately see better performance.

AGP allows for the data to be compressed as it streams into your Graphics card thus allowing more data to be transfered. Just because its AGP doesn't mean It supports this though. There are some really crappy AGP cards out there. I am sure someone can elaborate more on this.

Yes, you should see some performance gains due to the more advanced video chipset and the extra texture memory. The texture compression will also allow for higher frame rates if the games take advantage of it (though it may result in slightly worse video quality). Savage4 isn't the best chipset, but it is better than that old voodoo you had. You should see a few extra fps in most games, but may not be extremely noticable.

Thanks LagM,
I was hoping someone would tell me that. I only paid $30 for the card from a reputable web site I've bought from in the past.
