I was looking for a place to post this question, so I guess this is the best palce.

Anyways, I have created MPEG video clips and now I want to burn them to a CDR disk and play them on my DVD player so I can watch them on my TV. Now I know what your going to say, "But you need a DVD Burner and a DVD blank disk to watch it on your DVD player." Well first of all, I don't have that kind of money and second of all, my dvd player supports Video CD format.

I have tried Roxio's Video CD Creator, but ever since Roxio bought that software from Adaptec, it has had nothing but errors. So I tried Nero Buring software and it burned just fine, but when I went to go play it, the DVD player starts to read the media, and then all of the sudden, it will skip and then start from the beginning every time. Some times it will play for 10 sec, other times it will play for 20 sec.

I want to know if anybody has burned Video CD's and had any luck, or if someone can point me towards some good software or tips. Thanks

I've made some VCDs successfully using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.0.
No particular problems and nothing special to do. I just used the VCD Wizard and everything worked fine.

About your problem. Have you tried different brands of blank CDs?

I have used both Adaptec and Nero, and both seemed to work fine for me most of the time, although Nero seems to throw up more glitches during the writing process for me. Maybe that's just my CDR. I'd go with AlienDyne and recommend Adaptec for this one.

One of the biggest problems with VCD use in a DVD player seems to be the type of CDR that is used. Go with a name brand CDR. You can check here for more info: http://www.vcdhelp.com/

Also, not all mpegs are vcd compliant. The mpeg must be converted to a vcd compliant mpeg1 file, for NTSC (american television) this must be in 29.97 frames per second and, if I remember correctly, the size must be 340X280. It must also be burned as a VCD and not just placing the mpeg on there. Most times the problem is directly related to the format in which the mpg is converted.
