Having problems with Lieon cdrw and Asus mainboards, using Adaptec software version 4.03e or using Roxio 5 with all updates
Company we get systems from can not seem to help us.

I am running the latest Liteon CDRW on a Asus
A7A266 mainboard, I have down graded the BIOS to version 1003b like was suggested, but then have more problems. Firm ware on cdrw is upto date, I have used everything from Adaptec's oldest version of software to the newest version 5 Roxio has out.

It will test fine, but during burn at the end it will not close the cd, or just hang up and you have to do the three finger salute, and shut the software of that way, funny thing is the cd is burnt fine and readible, but I don't think my customer will want to do that everytime.

Is anyone else running into this ?

Have you tried setting your IDE transfer mode to DMA node instead of the default PIO mode? I found that my CD burner made a bunch of coasters until I made that change... http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum1/noncgi/cwmsmilies/cwm3.gif

sad to say, this A7A266 does not give me the option to adjust the I/O on the controller, which means I will not be using this board again anytime soon. I have always liked Asus, even if a few dollars more, but their boards are starting to get very low end generic it seems.

Since you have posted more than once, I'll post my reply here like last time.

Try the latest ALImagik-5 chipset drivers for your cd/hd/cdr issues.

Also, maybe try to flash the bios as long as you are aware of the risks involved.
