Price. Allegedly, some audiophiles claim to be able to tell the difference. I've also heard some claim that writing at more than x4 spoils the audio quality. Unless you've got a SWEET audio rig and good ( more like amazing) ears, you'll probably be like me and burn on cheap disks at top speed.

cd AUDIO are the only ones that will work on a stand alone cd copier IE: philips ,,,,if u put a computer cdr in them they dont read them.
i have a philips machine here in the living room and use it at music "gigs" (in the pub etc ) to record in 1 to 1 speed, music and voice (and then sell them !!!!)

i have used the audio ones on a computer kit recording at 8-12 speed but they seem to be a waste of money.

Freddy, I gather there is a way of using the cheap regular disks on older Philips copiers, put the proper one in first, then eject and replace with a cheapo. More info on www.cdrfaq.org (http://www.cdrfaq.org) , look at section 5-12.

Officially, as my friend described it, the "cheapo" CD-R's you can get at any store are for the "red-book" specification, and the CD-R's for Audio are "orange-book"

just tried that (as i think i did 12 mth ago) ..........no go ,date stamp on back feb 2000 .

never mind ,,,,,it does a job (and gives me an income) ,,,,,,,,,sad &$%%&*( like to listen to themselves singing kareoke on the way home in the car .....i think they are all sending them to "new faces" ,,,,,,

I have to admit it is quicker to do compelations for DJs using this machine

I just take the PC down the pub for live recording, with the trusty cassette multitracker in case of failure. Sometimes I've had the first CD burned before the band's finished tearing down !
