What do you mean he needs 200 posts? What to talk to Scott? You are having me on? Right?

No, just to get a custom avatar.

I'm sure in your case he would be willing to make an exception... and make it 200000 posts or so :D :D :D

Indeed, I have no avatar or wish for one so make it any number you like.

Newbies won't like it though

As far as I know, that policy has been in place for over two years and possibly a lot longer... so I can't see why newbies should react any differently now than they did back then, or even if they do, why the site should cater to them...

We are talking about someone wanting a custom avatar, you could load one up!

There was a hack, installed for ages. Now there ain't.

not really ages maybe two maybe three months.
and the first time that was enabled before the last time you still needed 200 posts agian only about two months or so. Before that you always had to email your custom av to Scott after 200 posts.

I never saw a feature for that either. It's always been, email Scott, Scott replies telling you it's done, you go to your profile and choose "custom" under avatars, and then you're good to go. I don't even think a hack will ever be in place to let a user choose their own avatar on the fly. There'd be all sorts of X-rated avatars floating around here if that happened. :D

Heh heh,.. I had become kinda burnt on computer posting, so I took a couple of months off. I guess I still am burnt on the whole "discussing computers and the related" thing. Probably why I mostly post in the lounge now that I think about it. Must've been around that time.

YUCK!! Actually, I'll be honest. I was out in the fields battling legions of Porkbeasts. One especially big one attacked me, and I layed there for months recovering from it. But I healed, and now I'm back. :D

Leaving the porkbeasts to one side for a moment...

This was about loading up custom avatars, I'm sure that hack was there longer, it generated enough posts, but.....was I meant to know the rules about uploading by some form of paranormal experience???

I was concerned with newbies who won't know for sure, I understand that hack to have gone because it won't run now and no ones fixed it, not for any other reason.

Even though I don't like Avatars (I think mostly 'cos I have trouble typing it!) I can understand that new members might like them.

And the more new members the better right?

that was the point of 200 posts to get a custom avatar kind of like a reward for staying at the site for a while.

Indeed! (got that one)

So if its a carrot, post counters aside, then say it somewhere, so that no one has to play he said, she said, I said (much as it is funny) to find out what's what!!

:)
