Scotty
I think it may be more beneficial to go back to the old way of running the forum with every poster having to be a member before they can post. I have seen a vast increase of general flamers come to the site now throwing out insults to everybody (Re. The tech who never got paid thread).
I could edit the posts for the forums which I moderate as could yourself & Shawn, but as you know it can take forever to get around all of the flame or idiotic posts to edit them. At least with the Membership thing, you could possibly keep some of the 'A**-Holes' away and get the forum back to how it used to be.
It seems to have started since S******911 bought the site.
Buy it back Scotty PLEAASE!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smile.gif

I think it may stop a lot of the recent flaming that has been going on.

And yes again! Or if you don't want to make the whole board for members only, then at least the "For Techs Only" section should be for members only, maybe even for senior members only.

I agree with you Darren. The flames don't help, since we're supposed to be helping each other, right? Since dicovering this forum, it's helped me immensely - especially the techs only section. So members only sounds good. BTW, Darren or Scott, what does it take to become a senior member?

rfmathis, your almost there, unless they have changed it recently. It takes 30 posts to become a senior member.

Tech-To-Tech and Tech Tales are now registered users only!! I can also track IP addresses across the whole forum and post them to every post reply or topic, let me know?? That way I can ban someone based on their IP.

So, you want to turn Windrivers into a members only boys club? So, this is to keep non-members from posting, and flaming other techs? Whats the matter, can you guys not take critism? What is you defination of flaming? My defination is naming one particualar tech and launching a personal attack against him/her. How about telling someone that the equiptment that they are asking questions about is junk? I would call that flaming. Who wants to read that the equiptment they bought is junk, when maybe that is all they can afford.
All in all these are good boards. If you don't believe me look around the net. I would swear there is nothing more than a bunch of perverted teenagers out there. Some of you guys just need to get over yourselves and take life and people for what it/they are. Laugh it off when someone flames someone else. Most the time, it is pretty ignorant, which I find funny.
By the way it took me exactly 3 minutes to register so I doubt this is really gonna stop anyone.

I may be older than most of you (hint: I remember what it was like working on computers in the '60's) but I still have quite a few years left before I qualify for any senior discounts.
