Greetings All, Just wanted other windrivers.com users opinions, comments on What has happened to the windrivers site since the buy out.I mean broken links, no updates for days if not weeks on end, pop ups etc. Now, don't get me wrong, this is still one of the best sites on the net, but it's definetly going down hill. I just keep finding myself looking elsewhere for the info that were all used to receiving daily.

well, the pop ups seem to have been dealt with so thats a dead issue. The lac of updates while annoying are perfectly acceptible. Every site has downtime, there is nothing that can be done about that. Broken links are a fact of life. If you notice a broken link, click on the contact link to report it. Scott will look into it and fix it (if he can hasn't been locked out). While this may not be the most reliable site at times, it is still the most informative and useful site on the net.

As far as updates, the home page is updated without fail five times a week Mon-Fri except at the time of the buyout when I was locked out, otherwise I never miss. If you link to a page within windrivers, such as index.html or default.html, you will only get the updates every other day as I switch between the two as the home page, so make sure you link only to http://www.windrivers.com. As for pop-ups, that waas a one time thing that I had no idea about until someone told me and then they were killed end of story. As for broken links, I'm behind at the moment, company webmasters must think it's fun to change page names on a weekly basis. On any given wekk, there can e as many as 400 links fo me to repair. Try looking up all those links and then copying them over one by one to a SQL server, let me tell ya, loads of fun!!

Yeah, this morning was real bad...couldn't do anything at all on Windrivers for about an hour. All other web sites seemed to be working fine so I know it's not my ISP.
Also, it really slows down on the weekends...is it because of so many people trying to access?
Just curious...

It's a dog eat dog world out there, and there isn't enough dog to go around. So get as much dog as you can, before all the dogs gone.

l've noticed that when trying to access the forums from a bookmark (so l'm not sure if it is forums.windrivers.com or the entire server, and never really bothered to look), l get messages about it being down, several times a week....do you really have this much downtime, or should l be worried about something on my side???

I think DG does a pretty darn good job of updating the site.

I don't see what all of the complaining is about. I think that the Admin does a good job of keeping everything running. I am a sysadmin myself, and I don't hear about anything unless people are complaining because a system is down, or the files are locked for an update/backup. I feel that you need to look at things from a sysadmin's standpoint. Keep things running and get no praise, things go down and you start receiving hate mail in your inbox(assuming it is not down).
