So I want to put an external thermal probe on my proc to check temps on the outside of my box instead of through s/w. Any suggestions on how I should do this? I usually just jump right in but don't care to do it so much on a $120 proc. I'm thinking of either attaching it with some adhesive to the bottom of the heatsink right by the core. I've also thought of clipping off the majority of the insulation and setting it between my proc and hsf. Anyone?>

Mill a slot in the base of the fan for the probe from a digital meat thermometer.....and incorporate the LCD display int a Mod on the front of the case.
Also...if you want to try it and don't know anyone with a milling machine......PM me and I'll tell you where to send.....milling a slot like that will take longer to clamp to the machine table that it will to mill the slot. Be glad to help....you just pay shipping...I'll do it at lunch.

Well actually I've already done a mode with lcd screens for the temp probes in the front of my case but I don't want to mill a slot in my hsf for the probe. I got a flat probe so that I wouldn't have to worry about this. The flat probes are about the thickness of a sheet of paper.

Love to know where you got them.....I have a need for something like that in another application besides computers.
