i'm going to buy a new case and i want to put enough fans to keep my system cool.

looking at the front (with the floppies facing you), are the fans on the left side blowing into the case? what about the top? i know the fan on the front should be the intake and the one on the back, besides ps fan, should be the exhaust. any suggestions?

right now i have a 300w ps and i'm running 3 fans (2 case 1 processor). what is the max # of fans you would recommend i run with this ps?

900mhz thunderbird
640mb ram
nvidia gefore 256 32mb
56k modem
hp cdrw
3.5 floppy
usb pci card

A 300W power supply is more than adequate for your configuration, assuming you're not running an insane 4 drive RAID array. Fans don't draw a lot of power.

Get as many as you want. I have:
2 intake fans on the front of my case,
2 exhaust fans on the back,
one intake fan on the side blowing towards my processor,
1 exhaust fan on the top (heat rises)
1 intake fan at the top back with duct work leading the air towards my processor,
a fan on my hard driver for cooling,
a fan on my chipset for cooling,
a fan on my vid card for cooling,
the delta 7000 rpm fan on my fop38 HSF
and the fan on my PS.
I guess that makes 12... you can never have too many fans especially when you have a good power supply. :D

what size ps do you have?

also, what are your cpu and sys temps?

Everything runs fine on a 300W PS. I had a slot A Athlon 750 for quite some time and it usually ran about 85F at full force. It was kickin @ss. Now, I've got my Tbird 1.2ghz with the Fop38 cooler. I'm just in the midst of getting the system up now so once everything is up and running, I'll post some temps. I'll be interested in seeing it.
