Okay, I have a 300W psu for my Athlon and everything is great with it. I have recently purchased an SB Live Platinum sound card with the live drive that takes a 4 pin floppy power connector to run. Unfortunately, I only have one and that is run to my floppy drive. Does anyone see any potential problems if I mod one of the large power connectors to lead to more wires to another floppy drive power connector? I have an extra connector and the two wires that lead from the connector are normally spliced into the first two wires of a large connector. I'm wondering if I should expect any problems out of my power supply if I choose to add another myself?

maybe you can buy a splicer for that mini conector at Radio shack or some place online.
a splicer that has two mini connectors on the end instaed of the typical one.
I'll look on line myself to see if I can find one.

Thanks, but that would kinda defeat the purpose of the modification. I think it should work. If not, I think I have a couple other 300Wers laying around that I can mod until it works. http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum1/noncgi/cwmsmilies/cwm35.gif

I didn't realize that your main purpose was a Mod. I thought it was getting your LIVE DRIVE to work. Sorry go ahead with your mod I'm sure it will be fine so long as the power is the same from the molex to the MIni cable.
I think that it is a different current myself but use a multimeter to be sure.

I'll be sure to get the multimeter out for this one. I would assume that all voltages from each molex are the same as well as the mini connectors. My point to this is to get my live drive running but I'm always up to a good mod too. Just nature I guess.

Makes me wonder why the different connector if they are the same voltage. But maybe using one less wire will be the same Voltage.

Luckily, it did work just fine. Everything running through the multimeter showed to be the same so ripping out a few connectors, adding some wires and shovin 'em back in there seemed to work fine. Now time will be the only test.
