New LED mod on my case

So I finally decided that I wanted to see all my LED's up front so I decided to make this little puppy. From left to right is Network Activity, Network Connection (10 or 100), floppy, power and HDD activity. Let me know what you all think.

It would take quite a long explanation to explain in detail but in short, I cut off my existing LED's from my devices and ran wires from them to the front of my case to new LED's. It's quite simple and nice because you don't have to use any resistors. The connectors that were in place on the devices are already set to take LED's rating with a front voltage of about 2.0 or 2.1V.

In case anyone else wants a quick how to.

To begin, make sure you have the right LED's. I would suggest looking for ones that say 5mm or T 1 3/4. Also look at the front voltage. I would only go with ones that say 2.0V or 2.1V as this should be as close to the original ones as possible. The case LED's are easy to move. These have wires that go to connectors that plug into your motherboard. I just left my existing LEDs in the case, cut the wires with enough room on both sides to splice it back if I need to and then connect to the new wires. The Floppy drive is a little more difficult. About 3 screws should separate you and access to the floppy drive. Take them off and you should have a small piece that is connected to the rest with a small ribbon cable. Flip it over and you should have access to your LED. I, personally, cut the LED off at the closest point to the LED. This leaves you with two metal contacts that look like stretched out paper clips. I used Mobo connectors like ones for your Turbo LED (on older computers). You could either rip these off old computers or go to your neighborhood tech shop and they may have them. I believe <a href="http://www.caseetc.com" target="_blank">www.caseetc.com</a> sells them too. Just connect one end to the contacts and then I fit the LED contacts in the other side. This is the same thing with the NIC card. With that card, I would recommend removing the faceplate(accessible with two screws) before removing the LEDs. If you have a really expensive nic card, go buy a cheapy. Nowadays they work really well and I'm sure you would rather f&*k up a $15 Acer card than a $115 3com nic. Same thing, I then just connected the wire contacts to the contact points and I had to splice these wires in the middle to add extra length to the wire to be able to get to the front of my case. Plug it all in, tape all the wires down and you're in business. Just remember, on the LEDs the longer contact is the positive.
