have you got all the security fixes for XP and the patches?
have you got the lastest version of media player?

<a href="http://www.winplanet.com/winplanet/news/2689/1/" target="_blank">here's a security patch that you can use that may not help but is still useful</a>

if your using ie 6.0 check <a href="http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1105-814626.html?legacy=zdnn" target="_blank">Here too.</a>

reading that maybe try Ie 5.5

Ensure that you have the necessary codecs installed. Try to see what codec the files that you cannot play are encoded in and find the relevant codec for that particular file.

Both links are the same files but mirrored just to be safe.

First off, those processors are on the slow side to be running XP so you may want to go to an older OS, I recommend 2k for those. Also, did you do a full install of XP or an upgrade from a previous OS?

One thing I can say is that it is NOT AMD's fault, I have built numerous machines using XP and AMD and have yet to have a problem
