the temp your people are get from your CPU ! are your PC in a AC room or is it in a cool room or room temp. i have a AMD XP 1900 and the temp i an get is about form 50-60c. and the temp( Weather) out sideout the pc is about 65-80F (18c-27c). i have being read alot about temp for cpu and everone i see have about 35-45c. and they don't say where they are from and and what is the temp they PC are in. so can some of your tell me the temp of your cpu and the temp outside of the cpu are they in a AC room

Right now my CPU is running at 44C, the temp in my room is at 22C. The temp used to be in the 50's, but ive just installed another case fan. Not sure if this is what you wanted to know though.

Thats a little on hte toasty side, what kind of cpu cooler are you using? Also, what kind of thermal paste/tape are you using? Do you have any case fans? How are your cables arranged? They may be restricting the air flow

I used to get similar results as you are getting. Now I am in the 35-42 degree range. What I changed was the case, amount of case fans and the HSF on my CPU.

I personally have an Athlon XP 2000+ with a new CoolerMaster HHC-001 Copper Heatsink that uses the "Heatpipe" like that used in notebooks. I also have 2 case fans in the front sucking air into the case (from a room that is about 78 degrees Ferenheit - sorry about spelling) and 2 case fans in back blowing hot air out of the case. The case is a Mid Tower Server Style case that I bought at PC Club. Also I am using Arctic Silver II on the CPU.

Case fans are the main element though. suck cool air in from fron and blow hot air out through the back. That way your HSF is always using cool new air compared to stagnant warm air.

the fan i an use for my cpu is the fan it come wiht i try use the coolmaster DP5-6I31A and i get the some temp. the thermal paste i an use is Arctic silver II. ( i just order me the Arctic silver III) i an use round cable and one IDE for the CD-RW ( they is right now 4 HD in they). they is 5 case fan. two in the back of the case two in the front sucking air out. and one on the side of the case.

thx Raffaz then is what i want to know need more from other people.. and Raffaz what cpu fan are u use.

i an think on buy the VOLCANO 7 or +. becasue i have being read about it and poeple are get the temp like 35c to 45c. so then is why i an ask peolpe what are the temp outside your case then is the own way i see people get this temp if they pc is ina cool place.

It is not ideal for all of your case fans to be blowing the air out of the case. You should have the fans in the front of the case sucking air in (since this will be cooler room temp air) and the fans in the back and side blowing the air out. I noticed about a 5 degree lower temp when I went to that config.

Also, you may want to look into an alluminum case. They help extremely in cooling things down.

I would recommend the CoolerMaster HHC-001 copper HSF for you. It is by far the BEST air cooled HSF that I have ever used.

What method are you using to measure temp? Thermal probes are probably best, but they don't relly get it right (accurate to +/-5 deg C?) and as for those thermal mount detection circuits they just make it up!(well they won't but they may as well do... as they are only accurate to +/- 10). The xp chip has a thermistor circuit too but I ain't seen a motherboard to support that...

I think you've got the idea about fan positioning & thermal gloop but just in case, or for anyone else....

http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_tech_docs/cooling_guide.pdf (AMD Athlon cooling Guidelines)

(why can't I paste that link properly? Cut & paste  )

From the hourse's doofer ,sorry its acrobat(pdf) and athlon not xp, but near enough....

If you look in this forum for 'temp' you'll get a whole load of threads on the topic(many of them started by you!).

Can someone post the maximum temp link from the AMD site I can't find it anymore....? I'm fairly sure all Athlon's are rated to operate up to 95 centigrade... not that I'd recommend that!

here,s a little pici showing the power consumption / wattage (heat) radiated from the amd range :

as shown @ toms hardware guide <a href="http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/02q2/020610/thoroughbred-05.html" target="_blank">http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/02q2/020610/thoroughbred-05.html</a>
