Has anyone had any trouble or know of any problems running an AMD K6-2 300 on a 100Mhz bus (100x3) and using EDO (60ns) memory? I switched out motherboards and now I'm having problems. Before I used a bus speed of 75Mhz, same memory, and had no problems. Now, with the 100Mhz speed I'm getting occasional system lockups. Any ideas? Would moving to PC100 memory solve the problems?

Thanks

We have setup several system that used AMD 350 cpu's with non pc100 memory, that is required to run at 100mhz, sdrom and edo run just fine at 75 or 83 mhz. You will have to run your computer at 4x75, or buy pc100 memory and then you can run your AMD 300 at 3x100. Make shure that you have the 100mhz 300 not the 66mhz 300 AMD. By the way you may not see mush of a speed increase between 66 mhz and 100 mhz bus speeds.

Thanks for the reply. I set the bus down to 75Mhz and it's running fine now. No lockups. Obviously the 300Mhz CPU that I have is one of those that can't go to 100Mhz on the bus.

Thanks for the reply.

The cpu can handle it, the RAM can't. Upgrade to PC-100 RAM and set the motherboard back to 100mhz. This will be best for speed and performance.
