I recently bought a K62-350 for a very low price about 2 weeks ago. As soon as i bought it I upped it's speed to 400Mhz. It has been running well and stable at this speed since. However, today I decided to go one step further and decided to give it a go at 450Mhz, not even expecting it to POST. Well this was an hour ago, and everything seems fine and well and the CPU is only about as warm as a fast CD-ROM drive, perfectly ok to touch with bare skin.
My mobo is set to 100mhz with 64mb 100mhz ram, Banshee, UDMA33 bla bla bla. THe mobo is an Ali Alladin chipset which I have stuck a heatsink to the motherboards chipset also to help cooling. The case cover is also removed.
I was wondering, how usual is this and is it possible to take the cpu any higher than this, the step from 400-450 has improved all benchmark scores by about 22% which i think is quite significant.
Please let me know about your successes/complications with the AMDk62 350.
Thanks
TA-TEMPLAR
P.S. My chip has a stepping of 0C if this is any help.

Yes I have my K6-2 350 running at 450. The only change I did was up the core voltage to 2.7. I think 400 is easy to get to I didn't even have to up the voltage for that.
Don't count on going much higher. My to 475 if your real lucky. I know mine won't get any higher. What is you core voltage at? 2.2? 2.4? What?

Think about it, but not to hard, wouldn't want to give you a headache.

Yeh i thought I would have needed to up the voltage, but I have not, and its at its default which I am unsure as to what it is (2.2 or something?) anyway its at its default caore voltage.
its still only warm, a far stride from being hot (have used a PSU fan as well mine http://www.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smile.gif

Still at 2.2 and no blue screen of death I'm impressed. Are you sure it's a 350 and not a 400?
Well it doesn't matter much. Next I would go up to 500 for the hell of it. It probably won't post but if you up the voltage to 2.4 it just might. If that doesn't work try 475.
Like I said before my voltage is at 2.7. I wouldn't try that unless you aren't afraid of frying your processor. I figured what the hell it's only $40.

Bloody Hell i'm impressed too http://www.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smile.gif . Erm when I bought it 2 weeks ago I did look and it was stamped a 350. As I have bought one so late it probably has the highest stepping which I would say irons out a lot of problems, I may just try 500. I have a firend who bought a 333 k62 a long while back, it hsa a stepping of 00 meaning its probably from the first batch. It's crazy, wont overclock and its the most unstable cpu I have ever seen, inclusing at its default settings.
You use any cooling proggies and how did you test to temperature? thanks m8

OK I'm going to try 500Mhz now, I will post up later here today to let anyone know if there interested.

Hmmm my mobo is ****e. 450 will have to do.
The computer has a protection error at 506Mhz (5x 100mhz, why the 6 came out i dunno). and simply 495 wont post (90x5.5) my mobo does not have any settings that will take it to anything between 450and 500 and no higher bus speed than 100 to allow a higher bus speed for a lower multiplyer. There isnt even any voltage settings between 2.2 and 2.8!!!!!
My 506 was at 2.8, hmm pushing it a bit no?
nevermind, I will just have to buy another mobo, that will make it the 3rd one i have bought this year, jeez pcs get expensive to maintain, its only cos me bout £3000 to get it into this state, hehehe

What motherboard do you have?? That voltage jump from 2.2 to 2.8 doesn't seem likely. Are you sure that there are no other settings? You should be able to do 2.4.
The 475 is a 95 mhz bus with 5.0 multiplyer.

its a TM-586 AL100 Mainboard. yep, there are no 95mhz bus speed and no voltage settings between 2.2 and 2.8, i am POSITIVE about this one, that is what it says in the manual anyhows, it even goes as high as 3.2 for core voltage.

Well if you do get another motherboard get a ASUS P5A. If has any setting tha tyou can imagine on it. All voltage settings and all bus settings up to I think 120.

Yeh, ive heard there good, couldnt afford one at the time, already blown one this year, hehe.
My K62 is only an intermediate cpu anyway till i can afford an athalon, the next mobo i buy will be athalon compatable.
