I am planning to upgrade my computer from a P233 to a AMD-K6-2 400. I have looked around for a good deal and have found a deal, but before I buy it I have a question or two. Does the AMD suck? I know it does in some respect beat the Intel PII in speed, but does it also not work well with some applications? Should I save my money and buy a Celeron and a new motherboard, or is it a good choice to buy an AMD? Please help soon. There is a big computer show coming up soon, and I would like to know all the details before-hand. Thanks
Adam

Amd is a great all around processor but you need to have a good motherboard. The best is ASUS P5A. If you don't have a good motherboard your chip will havbe problems.

I have a K6-2 400 and I love it. It works very well with all my games. I have never had a problem. you can even overclock it to a 450, with the right cooling system.

Still love my EPoX EP-MVP3G-M. Jumpers will allow for a 550 Mhz chip and the BIOS will let you go higher!! Can't wait for the 500+ Mhz K6-3 in 0.18 microns.
