[RESOLVED] Athlon 750 will not boot to specs in ASUS K7M

I have tried many different configurations and from the "gitgo" this combination will not boot at 100MHZ. I'm running KM1008 bios and have tried K7m1007. I have tried pc133 & pc100 mem and have a 300 watt ATX pwr supply. The only way it will boot is to drop the bus to 95mhz. It boots fine at that speed. At 100 mhz it stops at the Windows 982e logo screen. I've tried AGP and PCI video and the problem persists. I have two ASUS K7M's and they are both the same. I need help desperately.

Hate to say it, but from what you have tried it looks like it could be the cpu. If you can get your hands on another Athlon (whatever speed) I would try it.

i think you should call asus, they might want you to try the 130 bios (beta) there were some issues with that too that are fixed. thier number is on thier website (marketing will forward you to tech support)

I have to agree, but you might also want to check the power supply too. Asus boards are VERY picky about the power supply they use.

I wish to thank all the respondents which help to confirm my suspicions that this though labeled a 750 Athlon is really a 700. This is a CPU that slipped through the cracks in AMD quality control. We all know that the chips as produced are rated at the production line on what they will produce if it won't do this then drop the specs. Not only AMD does this, it is the game producers play. Thanks again and I will post my results for those of you who might be interested.

This probnlem can be archived (put to rest). I have reveived my new AMD/750 and the problem is solved. I wasa out of town for the past two weeks and when I returned Sat the sixth the new(replacement) cpu was waiting. I was tired from a long drive but I had to see if the suspicions were confirmed. I immediately installed the new unit and the
the box booted up as designed. Curious to see the results I changed the bus frequency to 105 MHZ and I then had a cpu that booted and ran flawlessly at 800 MHZ. Again I would like to thank everyone for their help and I guess this problem can be consisered "successfully dealt with"
