[RESOLVED] Can not load Win95 back on Computer.

(PROBLEMS ARE RANDOM)

All the followig errors are happening while trying to reload Win95. The HD is partitioned into two sections (both 3.5G).

Formatted C: (not D: ) then tried to load Win95-OSR2 from CD.

1. When system i powered up "NO SIGNAL" box is displayed. To clear problem performed cold boot, Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 cold boots.

2. Systme randomly freezes in the following areas: after "Starting Windows 95", during scandisk, and while copying files needed to load Win 95.

3. During Win95 Setup Application Error "SUWIN caused General Protection Fault in module KRNL386.exe".

4. Received "A20 Hardware Error" only once.

I have a DFI P5BTX/L Rev B+ Motherboard
AMD-K6-2 300 Mhz Processor and 64M DIMM RAM
GoldStar-GCD R540B CD-ROM.

Any info would be helpful.

SUWIN errors are usally bad memory or faulty processor. Replace the memory first.

SUWIN is can happen if your processor is over
heating. Check your CPU Fan and Underclock CPU as diagnostic.Copy your Windows 95 Cab files to a diretory and then run setup from the hard drive. Check your CD for scatches and use a trusted CDROM to copy to hard disk to rule out a bad CDROM once you are satisfied with the condition of you CD.

I had this probelem with an overclocked
K62 350 to 400

All I could do was drop the overclock to 380

I had a problem something like this and the word was that AMD was having problems with their 350 and 400 k6s chips. they have put out a patch file to correct this problem on their web sit. the web site is www.AMD.com. (http://www.AMD.com.)

try changing the Motherboard also or update the BIOS first.

Slow your machine to 300 Mhz or below, get online (with a friends machine of necesary) and downlaod AMDK6UPG.exe from amd.com

Once executed set your jumpers back up
