i have installed the patch to allow me to install win95 osr2 etc, but i cannot install any version of office on my machine, when i try , i get an error message " vxd vmm (01) + 00002954" and the installation stops.

Well it sounds as though you got past the IOS error created by windows but, your install may have been corrupted. Sometimes, as much as you may not want to do it; you may have to underclock your CPU some or in the alternative keep reinstalling windows until it copies correct, you may want to copy your win 95 .cab files to your HDD first and install from there too. I only know of one quick fix and that is to upgrade to win98 (with all the product updates)(NOT SE) mind you. If you need help copying the cabs, let me know.
