Can anyone tell me where to find motherboard settings for a Gigabyte GA-586SG m/board in order to setup and run an AMD K6,266 Mhz CPU?
The Gigabyte web site says the chip and board will work together, but doesn't say how to set up AMD K6,266 chips with a 2.2 core voltage. Help!!

I briefly owned one of these boards.
To set up the proper voltage and speed this is how.
1st: Make sure that the jumpers JP4-JP6 are set to 2-3 on the board to set a 66 MHZ bus speed, they are probably already set.
2nd: Set the dip switches to the following, #2,5 and 8 are all set to on and #1,3,4,6,7 are set to off.
That should set you for a K6-266 at 2.2 volts or K62-266 at 2.2 volts as well.
What was your original processor?

My original processor is a Cyrix PR 200 or something like that.

glad to hear you are getting rid of that %#(*#&)#%#@$# Cyrix for an Amd. Glad to hear they went bellyup and being bought out by Via. Maybe they'll fix up those buggy, overheating piece of crap processors. Good riddance to them!!

My,my, someone didn't like Cyrix too much did they? Didn't you enjoy all the adventures that you had making Cyrix work with minor little things? Like the rest of the computer? (Chuckle)!
