[RESOLVED] 400 mhz is it overclockable

Does a 400mhz Pentium II have clock multiplier lock on it?

Yep. Almost all the latest Intel products do. I thought I read something about p2-266 CPUs that weren't, but probably not. The only way to overclock most intel CPU's is to change the FSB.

Have P2-400 for bout 6 weeks now. Last w/e took it to 448. 4*112*1/3.
Been working great, didn't have to up voltage.
Overclockers.com has some info on indentifying your P2.
If on boot and thru 3Dmark99 say am running 448 mhz, what this lock stuff?

The lock you were hearing about is the multiplier lock, which doesn't apply to FSB yet. It's the same situation with my P3-500. It is easily physically capable of running 550Mhz, but the multiplier is stuck at 5x.
