Is it true that you can unlock the retail versions of the slot 1 or Pentium III chips by covering up pin number 1 on the chip to allow you to overclock the chip? I heard this from a friend and I just wanted to confirm if it was true or not..
thanks,
Mike

Hi.
This is possible on PII processors. That's for sure. The pin is the B21.
You can cover it using a piece of plastic tape or something similar.
I don't know about PIII, but Intel says PII and PIII have the same architecture, so maybe this is possible on a PIII processor.
